Interested in working with some of the best journalists around? We offer 10 weeks of intensive, hands-on experience in a region where big stories are the norm. We place interns throughout the Los Angeles Times in departments that help capture new audiences, explain news events in written words and present information visually.

Interns have the opportunity to work in Metro/Local, Entertainment & Arts, Sports, Politics, Business, Lifestyle & Experiences (Home, Plants, Things to Do, Travel Guides, Relationships, Outdoors, Wellness), De Los, Fast Break (breaking news desk), Environment, Health & Science, Multiplatform Editing (copy editing), Photography, Video, Data & Graphics, Design, Audience Engagement, Image (The Times’ fashion magazine) and in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. (One of our multiplatform editing interns comes through the Dow Jones News Fund’s national selection process, and that deadline is Nov. 11. We partner with AAAS for our Environment intern; applications open in October.)

These are paid internships and summer 2027 interns are expected to start May 24, June 7 or June 21. We also offer spring internships for Southern California students. We do not have a fall internship program.

Applications for the 2027 Spring and Summer Internships will open Sept. 1. The deadline to apply is Nov. 15.
